I recently blogged over at my collaborative blog about modeling being a reader for your students. This is a subject near and dear to my heart and I urge you to check it out. I found it hard to be a teacher who encourages students to read without being a reader myself. How can I encourage them to read when I can't do it myself? At Adventures in Literacy Land, I shared how a dear teacher friend of mine showcased the books she was reading, ones she wanted to read, and what she had finished reading.
Today is June 1st and that means it is time for Currently from Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade. As part of her Currently she is asking for donations toward helping the animal flooding victims from Wimberly, TX. I am a definite animal lover and couldn't resist. Please consider helping the poor animals who have no where to go and who are missing their families.
I love the Fast and the Furious series of movies with Furious 7 being my favorite, but since it isn't available yet, I am settling for Furious 6. SCHOOL is OUT! This year has been fantastic and exhausting at the same time. While students are no longer at school, I still have some days I am working this week (since I am an instructional coach) to wrap it up and get ready for next year. So almost to the finish line :)
I am super excited about my school's theme for next year - Superheroes in Training. I am going to decorate my office with a Batman theme. I am also in charge of decorating the science lab but I am not sure what I want to do there. I am thinking maybe an Iron Man theme since he was an inventor. I would love for you to share any links/ideas in the comments to things that would help with our theme next year.
My summer lovin' has a theme of time. Time is precious and in short supply during the school year when I am trying to balance school and family. This summer I am going to take some time to spend with my ever-growing toddler. She learns so much so fast and I don't want to miss out.
Your turn to check out Farley's Currently party and join in the fun.
I hope you have a relaxing Summer and that your daughter starts to feel better soon!

I am so sorry that your daughter is not feeling well. Sick kids are the worst. It is no fun and it is hard because there is not a lot we can do. I hope that you enjoy your summer and time off reading and playing with your daughter. :)
ReplyDeletethanks so much for donating!!!!
ReplyDeleteand I sure hope your daughter feels better soon… Bub was out sick today too… fingers crossed he is better tomorrow because he has Kinder graduation.
I hope your daughter feels better soon! Enjoy your summer vacation! Carol's Teaching Garden
ReplyDeleteI love the super heroes theme! I can't seem to get my middle school to buy into a school wide theme - but maybe super heroes is broad enough??!! Enjoy your time with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are blogging. Your blog was one of the first I visited a few years ago. You have been a wealth of resources to me and I am sure to other teachers as well. Enjoy your summer!

I love the superhero theme for next year! That's what our school theme was this past year, and I loved it! I got a shirt from Mardel.com (teacher supply & Christian bookstore) that says "Teaching is my superpower!" I love to wear that shirt! Iron Man is definitely one my personal faves...what if you did something like "super scientists" as the theme for the lab and then a sign that says, "Some superheroes don't wear capes." You could print head shots of famous scientists and then make cloth capes sort of "flying" from off their necks of the head shots. All that may be more "over the top" than you want to go though...just sort of thinking out loud here...or typing out loud, as it were. :) Can't wait to see pictures of your "super" new room!
