It is Teacher Week at Blog Hoppin'. Today is Meet the Teacher Monday, where teacher bloggers from all over share a little bit about themselves.
Tell us a little something about you...
I'm a small town girl living next to a big city. I have a wonderful husband and a cat who we are sure is going to live forever. She was old when we got her and we have had her ten years. I love to read science fiction/fantasy and watch action movies. My favorite book is a relatively unknown book: Blue Moon Rising by Simon R. Green. My favorite young adult series is The Hunger Games.
How long have you been teaching?
I have just started my tenth year teaching. I can't believe how the time has flown. I have only worked in one school but have had different positions. My current position is PK-3rd grade Master Teacher. I am relying on all the great elementary blogs out there for ideas because I have only taught middle school (6th-8th grades) before this. Change is not easy but it is invigorating.
You might not know...
that I love to watching cooking shows (Food Network) but I cannot cook myself. I have also picked up a new interest obsession, Pinterest.
What are you looking most forward to this school year?
I am looking forward to working with the wonderful group of teachers I will be helping this year. I really do work with some of the best teachers out there. They are as much of a resource to me as I am to them. I am also looking forward to implementing all the great ideas I have been gathering from the fabulous blogs I follow.
What do you need to improve?
I need to work on modeling instead of telling, with my teachers and my students. I need to be the model for my teachers so they can be a model for their students.
What teaching supplies can you *not* live without?
I CANNOT live without Sharpies, of any kind. I LOVE the new Sharpie pens. I also have every color of Sharpie marker and highlighter. For making charts, I use the Flip Chart Markers from Sharpie. I may have an addiction.
Second most important teaching supply - blogs. I get the best ideas for classroom decorations, resources, lesson plans, and most importantly SUPPORT.
I'm Blog Hoppin'. Are YOU? Join the fun. Add your link at Meet the Teacher Monday.
