Today was a better day. The preschool teachers went shopping and bought a few things to start the day tomorrow with students. The teachers rallied and donated dress up clothes, blocks, toys, art supplies, etc. to get them started.

This is today as the teachers start to organize their new rooms (still without tables, chairs, shelves).
This is the teachers sorting the donated items and equally distributing them among themselves.
They have a much more positive outlook today. They are doing the best they can with what they have. Our teachers have pulled together to give, give, give. Some teachers are giving time, some are giving materials, and all are giving support. I LOVE the teachers I work with!

Finding JOY in 6th Grade
My heart goes out to all of you! So glad that no one was hurt. While there will be chaos for some time you will get through this. We lost our entire school K-12 in November of 2000. We also lost our janitor and supt. It was a propane explosion and the entire school and all contents were lost. It was amazing how people from all over the US rallied around us. We taught in churches, a reform school, and eventually trailers. Now we have a new school but still miss those we lost. Hang in and above all be there for each other.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I am in total shock. It is really such a shame that this happened, but on the other hand, I am so amazed by the perseverance of a teacher's heart to make great things happen with very little.
ReplyDeleteIs there a site where your school is taking donations??? I would love to help promote if there is. I believe there would be many of us who would love to send resources or provide the funds to help rebuild those classroom supplies and furniture..
